Creating Realistic Landscapes with Kay Haerland Working with a selection of Kay's pre-made designs, you will learn to create and use paper templates for selecting and cutting fabric layers. We will spend time with fabric selection and learn to use different machine appliqué and stitching techniques to achieve realistic effects. We will also start adding foreground features. Kay will demonstrate the use of perspective and you will learn to give realism and life to your quilt by adding additional natural features such as trees, shrubs, rocks etc. as well as more detail, using different embellishment techniques. A number of options will be demonstrated and discussed, so you can explore these techniques in the workshop or on your own in future quilt projects. To benefit from this class, you should be experienced with the basic process of piecing and finishing a quilt, and be familiar with your sewing machine, including the blind hem stitch. Free motion machine stitching experience would help, but is not a must.
